Having only fished my local ponds for mixed catches and carp, I decided to give the rivers a go which to me were quite intimidating.
I read your river bible section in this month's IYCF and got to work.
The one fish I have always wanted to catch was the beautiful barbel and on my very first barbel session I managed to catch a perfect 9lb 12oz stunner.
It was by far my best ever day's fishing, probably never to be beaten. What a clonker!
