PISCES Fishery is a multi-lake complex that offers fi rst rate and exclusive fi shing for visitors to their static caravans and chalets, on a 100-year-old clay extraction water and a collection of smaller pools.
You may recall that in the April issue quadruple world champion Bob Nudd visited the fi shery for the IYCF cameras to sample the superb sport here, that goes hand in hand with some equally high-quality facilities.
Fish stocks consist of carp to 28lb, super rudd to over 3lb, roach to 2lb 9oz, tench of 7lb and bream to 6lb. Perch run to 2lb 8oz, crucians top 3lb, while chub and ide are also stocked and average 8oz. There’s great variety indeed!
As the weather picks up, skimmers and decent roach show to pole-fi shed expander pellets, maggots, corn or dendrobaenas presented over micro pellets. If you feed little and often there shouldn’t be any need to fi sh too far out.
Catches to well over 20lb should be easy enough for even intermediately-skilled anglers to accomplish. The main lake always yields a carp or two later on in the day as well as a good-sized ‘tinca’ with bread and corn two key baits in your attack.
The water is situated adjacent to the Old Bedford River at Welney. Take the A1101 road from Littleport to Wisbech and turn opposite Welney village hall. The river runs on the left-hand-side of an unmade road. Pisces fi shery is situated half-a-mile from the bridge that crosses the A1101 road.
