Venue information

We are a long established coarse fishing society based in Nantwich, Cheshire and is primarily aimed at pleasure anglers.

The club’s main water is the River Weaver in Nantwich and the River Dee at Farndon/Holt near Chester.

The River Weaver has a great variety of swims, an overhanging tree, a crease, bush, bend or slack. There is a point where the river splits in two, flowing one way into a weir pool, and the other into a sedate backwater resembling a canal. After the weir pool the river meanders for a few hundred metres to a large bend. The canalised section feeds through a sluice into a large pool, and then both parts of the river rejoin.

Another backwater in the form of a large pool which resembles a small lake, but forms part of the path of the old river. This provides an excellent option during floodwater conditions. There are undercut banks, deep holes, shallows, and inlets where small streams and drainage channels enter. Short of a waterfall (although both sluices come close) there is virtually every conceivable feature, and all within a couple of miles of very accessible bank.

Some of the fishing is within a few minutes walk of the town centre and numerous other beats out on farms in the lovely Cheshire countryside surrounding Nantwich.  On both rivers there are areas that are easily accessible for anyone that is disabled with parking nearby.

The club also have access to several beats of the River Dee via the Dee Anglers Association with some excellent fishing on the Dee in the Farndon/Holt area. Please note coarse fishing only on the Dee.

River Tern at Waters Upton near Hodnet - a lovely small river almost stream like in places from Waters Upton  for about 1 ½ miles downstream.

River Severn at Leighton Bridge, Nr Welshpool - two beats upstream and one downstream in conjunction with Crewe Amalgamated Anglers on a lovely stretch of the Severn, good barbel and chub water.  Also one beat downstream for Nantwich AS members.

Species: Chub, Carp, Grayling, Pike, Roach, Bream, Dace, Perch,  Barbel, Gudgeon, Tench, Ruffe,  Brown and Rainbow Trout.

I have fished the Weaver in Nantwich since i was a child and I think it is one of the best rivers around. There are some monster fish in this river.
