Venue information

SITED in a 20 square mile area where the sheer number of carp-bagging stillwaters surely outnumbers anywhere in the UK with the possible exception of the West Midlands, Entire Farm is among the pick of the crop.

Established for over a decade, the 45-peg Main Lake is well into the phase where quantity is matched by quality. You're as likely to latch into an eight-pounder as a threepounder, with many fish pushing on into double-figures and beyond.

Other species pale almost into insignificance amongst such a well stocked carp water, but tench, bream, roach, occasional goldfish and chub are also present.

The general characteristics are a fairly open water with shallow margins and occasional troughs to five feet. There's one reed bed of significant size, but the surrounding trees are maturing nicely and it's by no means featureless.

The 15-peg small lake, found up an embankment past the top car park, yields almost exclusively carp including a few brightly coloured kois. There's a small island in this one, which has a different feel and is worth trying as a break from fishing open water swims.

At this time of year, try double or triple maggots, corn and luncheon meat on feeder, pole or waggler tactics. Floating bread takes over in high summer, with boilie and pellet taking their share of the larger specimen carp.

Club match bookings are taken, so do check before setting off at weekends. The venue record is a whopping 380lb! But the likelihood is you'll be able to find a peg, and that bites will follow if you observe the usual rules of watercraft and stay quiet while loosefeeding little and often throughout the session.

Bans: No cat food, cereal groundbait, dogs or radios. No carp over 3lb in keepnets except matches. Barbless hooks only.
Facilities: Toilets, disabled access.
Main species: Carp, bream, tench, chub and roach.
Best baits: Maggots, corn and meat.

This is an ideal Fishery to introduce a novice to the delights of Coarse Fishing. A choice of two lakes the top Pool being small – ideal for the younger Angler – contains willing Silver Fish to kick them off with then progress to the small carp as experience grows during the day. The Main Lake is ideal for the teenager /adult novice – with muscles enough to hang on to the Bigger Carp that will be crawling up you gear in the height of summer. The Main Lake gives up big bags in the summer Bags of 100lb plus are common using a fishmeal based method, but any tactic will work – making it easy to introduce Novice to all the various methods getting results with each. I have not tried the Pellet Waggler on here – but will try it at the end of August when I take my keen Nephew back there again for an introductory session – Memo – Bigger Carp (Low doubles) ca mainly be targeted on the far side of the lake in the margins.
