i started fishing at borwick at the start of last year and have had a brill season with good heads of carp i also caught my first ever cat fish which was a nice surprise.there are 9 pools varying in size with jimmys lake in the middle being the biggest it costs £6 to fish the surrounding ponds and £16 for jimmys which is for 24 hours and also lets you fish all ponds.the fish are in general good health but there are problems with cormorants with some fish i caught having slight damage to them.the surrounding area is really nice especialy in summer time and yes there are wild sheep but these tend to stay away from you.the bailif jimmy is a sound bloke and you can have a bit of banter with him.the facilities are very lacking and there are a few abandond caravans and some machinery around the outside and there is only one toilet in a porta cabin although there is a new building being built so it does look like things are gonna improve. overall i defo recomend as ive had a very good year up there with plenty of doubles and some nice surprises like my cat and also an 8lb orange and black goldfish, if any one wants to go id suggest starting at fingals pond thers good parking and is the most stocked but i would get there early in summer as it can get busy.

We arrived here with a mixed report. The site is very open so remember a bivvy or a good brolly if it is windy or raining. The good thing is for £6 for one rod, you can fish in any of the outer ponds, apart from using the main big lake. Jimmy the man in charge will give you a few pointers, take note, there is no cafe, and no drinks or chocolate, you have to bring your own ( or drive 2 mins to Truckstop on the A6, which is what we did ). Friendly fishermen around, we caught small perch, roach, a nice bream, and three beautiful carp ( a ghost carp 5 lb, and 2 mirror carp 4 lb and 6 lb ) and loads of bites all day. A nice day out, good fishing, we will come again. By the way, to the person who complained below, of sheep wandering around, you are in the countryside, and they keep the grass down ), THAT'S why they are there.

i have fished here many times 24 hours, 48 hours and day sessions with good results. I have found the staff very helpfull and plesant to talk to the fish are in good condition and give u a good fight. Although the main lake can get weedy there are many weedles areas u just need to take the time to find them. The smaller lakes have plenty of fish to go at. I dont think i have been there and not court a fish so in my view its a top fishery

RE: Borwick Fishing

Went to Borwick not ong ago, spent the weekend in the worst weather you could imagine, all for one eel from Jimmy's lake, but did get a few nice ghosties out of last blast. Would go again, but in better conditions, only problem we had were the loose sheep roaming around

Borwick fishery

I also found the staff a waste of time, the majority of the fish are badly damaged.there seems to be little or no control of people that are fishing.I also found lots of disgarded used line in my peg. on the hole if you dont really care about the health of the fish, then you can get a fish a chuck. myself I wont be going again.
