Venue information

Coarse fishing ion the secluded Sussex countryside offering nine waters with a range of fish present, including: carp, tench, perch, bream, roach, rudd, golden rudd, crucian carp and eels.

We have a secure car park, toilets and a seasonal tea room offering excellent food every day except Wednesdays.

The waters include: House Pond, Nursery, Great Pond, Banky Fork, Long Water, Coney, Brook Pit, Lagoon, Clearhedges, Catch Pool and Hemlock.

HOUSE POND

House Pond is next to the car park, giving easy access for disabled anglers. It is stocked with common carp, mirror carp, wild carp, crucian carp, roach, rudd and tench. The carp go up to 6lb and tench to 3lb.

All baits are good and work well, but luncheon meat, sweetcorn and bread work best for carp, while maggots are best for the roach and rudd.]It is about 3ft deep and there are a few overhanging trees.

Most methods of fishing work well here. The larger carp are often found near the margins and tree roots where they will return to at great speed when hooked. Beware - several rods have been lost by anglers distracted by the kingfishers or cups of tea!

GREAT POND

Great Pond is a larger pond than the House Pond and also next to the car park. It holds common carp, leather carp, mirror carp, wild carp, crucian carp, roach, rudd and tench. The carp go up to 12lb and the tench reach 4lb.

All baits work well with bread and dog biscuits the best for carp, while maggots are best for the roach, rudd and tench.

Great Pond is about 3-5ft deep and there is an island, lily pads, weed beds and reeds.

All method work well here - soemone even caught using fly tackle.

As this lake is so close to the toilets, car park and tea rooms, it is very popular with anglers.

BANKY FORK

Banky Fork is to be found further down the valley. It is stocked with common carp, leather carp, mirror carp, wild carp, crucian carp, bream, roach, rudd, perch, gudgeon and tench. The carp reach weights of 12lb.

All baits work well but luncheon meat and sweetcorn work well for carp and maggot for the roach, rudd, tench and perch.

Banky Fork is about 7ft deep and there is a large reed bed and overhanging trees. All methods work well here, but float and leger are the best.

LONG WATER

Long Water is just past Banky Fork. It is stocked with common carp, mirror carp, wild carp, crucian carp, bream, roach, rudd, perch and tench. The carp reach weights of 10lb, perch over 3lb and bream to 5lb.

All baits work well here, but maggot, luncheon meat and bread works best.

Long Water is about 12ft deep with overhanging trees and a very long narrow end. A wide range of methods work well but float fishign and legering are most popular.

CONEY POND

Coney Pond is stocked with carp to 10lb, perch to 3lb, tench, roach, rudd and crucians. Again it has many features including overhanging tree, an island and a reed bed.

This is a good water for practicing your match fishing techniques with the chance of a larger carp racing off towards the reed bed.

The kingfishers can be frequently seen here fishing or flying up or down the valley. The depths range from 3-6ft.

BROOK PIT

A small secluded water which hides some surprising fish - carp over 10lb and some very good perch. It also has a good stock of roach and rudd.

It is surrounded with trees and has a small reed bed - beware the sunken logs and tree stumps. Depths range from 3-7ft.

LAGOON

The Lagoon is very popular with the carp anglers, particularly those wishing to fish a 24-hour session. It has some very good carp lurking in it with lots of stories of the one that got away in the many overhanging trees.

It also has some very large perch - to over 3lb - lots of roach and rudd and the occasional very large eel.

It is quite a walk from the car park so try not to take too much tackle.

CLEARHEDGES

Clearhedges is a long walk but it is well worth the effort. It is secluded, surrounded by trees and features two lily beds and a large reed bed.

It is very popular with carp anglers, being stocked with some of our largest carp. It also fishes well for crucians, roach, tench and rudd.

CATCHPOOL

One of our most recently restored ponds, Catch Pool has only been lightly fished. It will be very popular with anglers having recently been stocked with carp to 10lb and large numbers of smaller tench, roach, rudd, crucians and carp.

It features well established trees and reed beds. The depths range from 3-6ft at the dam end.
