Is it better to fish a river standing in the water or from a high bank?

The answer to this depends upon how you intend fishing the river. If you are pole fishing, your best attack will be to fish from the bank because then you can spread all the necessary tackle around you – like your pole roller, top kit rests and pole roost etc. If you intend stickfloat or waggler fishing the river, I would strongly suggest you don a pair of waders, slip on a bait apron and tackle the venue from the water. Doing this will give you far better float control and therefore you stand a much better chance of catching.
