Re: How to enter this competition and use this forum area...

my boyfriend , tim , took me fishing for the first time recently. the picture you see here was the FIRST fish i`ve EVER caught .

as you can see its a ghost carp which tipped the scales at exactly 14lb 3ozs and was captured on a pellet feeder and a sweetcorn hookbait .

needless to say im now hooked on this wonderful new exciting sport and if i was to win i`d love to draw on all of matt`s experience to help me catch lots more fish and hopefully even bigger ones !

I went fishing on holiday with a 7ft rod, 6lb mainline and a 5lb hooklink, thinking there would only be smaller fish in the lake. My target for the season was to beat my pb carp (5lb 10oz) and catch a double figure Carp. And within 45 mins i did it, twice. first with a 11lb 8oz mirror and then a 14lb 4oz mirror which took 35 mins to finally get on the bank. Another bonus was beating my best mates pb (10lb's).

This fish was truely shecial to me, not only was it my biggest fish but it was the fish that i proved to my friends that fishing does'nt have to be the most expensive sport in the world all you need is a rod a reel, some basic terminal tackle and some dog biscuits to have a great day or evenings fishing on a lovely summers day on a tranquil lake.

Just perfect!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE Matt Hayes! Though he's fished for years and caught thousands of fish you can still see how excited he gets even with just a little old roach. Hopefully you can see by my face in this picture the same sort of thrill I share with Matt evn though this was the first fish I'd ever caught over a pound and my first EVER chub. Even more exciting because I caught it after a blank all-nighter on my boat on the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation!

Hi Matt,

These are two photos of my six year old grandson Rhys Morgan I introduced him to fishing this year when we holidayed at the Plassey camp site in North Wales. He landed a small 3” Roach, I his grandfather, who has taken up fishing again after many years, landed nothing did not even have a nibble.
Back home in South Wales I took him fishing at the Port Talbot docks as advised by a local fisherman who is the bailiff there, Dai Worm (lovely name that for an angler). Low and behold he landed a small Mullet a seen in the picture. He’s still afraid to hook the maggots or touch the fish, that is yet to come but the lads on his way. His grandfather has still to land anything so its two nil to the grandson.
