Cancun shore fishing

Hi Guys im going to Cancun for my Honeymoon on the 27th April for 2 weeks.

I planning on taking 2 rods to do some shore fishing. Now i know the boat fishign is supposedly very productive which im likely to do on one day only just due to the cost (very expensive). Wont get a chance like this for a long time so i aim to make the most of it. Ive heard shore fishing can also be very good and i am interested to know if anyone has been there or done it before either on cancun beach or the lagoon behind the hotel zone.

I am currently buying some jellys and plugs as ive heard they are good for Barracuda. Any tips on rigs, tackle, bait, times to fish etc or anything in general about fishing on the mexican shorleine would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Cancun shore fishing

i have been a bit further down the coast from cancun and at our hotel when snorkelling saw gars ,some sorts of trevallys a brief glimse of a barracuda(the locals said there a pain cause they get in the way of the real fish, sounds a bit like whiting but would'nt mind catching barracuda every chuck) but I went on a big game trip out over the reef trolling and caught  dorado, some sort of toothy mackeral and even got my first sailfish though it was a baby at only 35-40lb but still fought like stink, and the best bit was it only cost 200 pounds for a full day with free beer and food.good luck

I live in Cancun and fish on the piers, shoreline, and bridges. This is a tour that focuses specifically on shore fishing at the lagoon. Have fun!
