Re: First fish

My first fish was deffinitelly worked for!

in my third month fishing after fishing both saturday and sunday every week until that amazing day. i had sat there for three hours in scortching weather on sweetcorn and couldnt get a bite. i decided to dig for some worms and i found about 8 worms. i put one on and fished 2 foot deep as i could see all of the silvers on the top. i cast out and within 20 seconds i got a bite but missed it. i cast back out and again missed it. i must have missed about 30 bites using only 5 of my worms before i lost my temper, threw my rod to the floor and had a walk to my mate, Dave who was a master by this point at calming me down. i walked back to my peg after a chat and cast back out, the float went down and STRIKE!!! i was shaking as i felt that amazing tug on the line and reeled as fast as i could before flinging the fish to my hand and gently unhooking it. i shouted Dave and ran round to him with the fish in hand. "DAVE, DAVE, WHAT IS IT!!!?" i screamed...and he simply replied with "a fin perfect roach mate" and it was 3oz....i was proud as punch!

Re: First fish

A small, what I think was a roach from the bridgewater canal in the late 60s. More memorable was my first pike, seemed like a monster at the time (early 70s) it weighed 3lb and I caught it on a worm . Sorry no photo's, couldn't afford a camera then!!

Cheers,

Shane.
