forum fishing match in may 2012

just putting the feelers out to see how many forum members are intrested in fishing a match at www.lodgefarmfisheries.co.uk near bawtry in notts on the long island lake in may next year the peg fees will be £6.50 by then and we can sort out pools on the day we will need at least 20 to take part and i think we should limit it to 24 pegs it will probably be on a tue/wed or thur hoping for some feedbck ddj

Re: forum fishing match in may 2012

hello all i think its about time we woke this thread up again as its only about 5 weeks to the match date i have had a word with rose and she kindly said she will twist the AT tackle testers arms to see if she can get them to donate some prizes she might have to resort to a knee in the groin but i am sure she will do her best remember its not a life or death match i know that sky and i am sure norfolk will be willing to give tuition and advice my mate george will also help but remember he is from stockport so i am not always sure if he is telling the truth but as i said its not life or death and if we do get some prizes they could be given for biggest of each species or whatever we decide so please do make an effort to make this day and hopefully others this summer a success wee have had enough disruption on the site this winter hope to hear from you soon

Deedaajohn.
Now this thread is live again just a couple questions that may help those of us who have never seen the venue sort some rigs out and get an idea what we are coming to.
1. Looking at the schematic drawing of the Long Island Lake, it states the depth is 9ft at the deepest and 21ft (7m) to the island. Is that correct? The photo gives me the impression it is more than 7m to the island.
2. I have no problem with the rules but would like some clarification regarding the pellet situation. I personally prefer to use expanders, are you able to let us know what is available on site? Pete.

hi pete the depth is about 9ft the 21ft measure is from the margin to the bottom of the shelf where it levels out across to the island i cant remember exactly what the distance is to the island  but it is out of pole reach i have seen anglers putting a feeder across to the island as for the pellets i think fishery pellets only just applies to feed pelletsbut i will check this out and let everyone know

------ End Quote ------just make sure you sit facing the water and you will be alright pete sorry i havent been back to you before now every time i try to post my computer crashes or freezes i will see how i go on now i spoke to the fishery owner you must use thier pellets for feed they dont sell expanders so you can use whatever you like on the hook the depth is 9ft the 21ft measure is to the bottom of the shelf and the island is out of pole reach if the weather is anything like you should be able to see groups of f1s just under the surface loose feed with a catapult and start with a rig about a foot deep i have spoken to my mate ( mick framp ) who lives near thier and he tells me that meat paste and corn will work in the margins and a feeder out to the island also works well i dont think it is as deep as the diagram shows at the island but he also said someone set up a waggler recently to fish dead depth and was told he wouldnt do any good with it and he won with 188lb the pellet waggler and baggin waggler should also work well but i expect pole shallow to bee the best bet pellet wag is too much like hard work for me at the end of april i am going to have a practice session norfolk said he would like to go and my mate said he is going so i will post the results and let you all know how we blanked better sign off now before this thing frezes again

2 1/2 weeks to go to the forum match and i must say the response has been a bit dissapointing it really is a top fishery and is well worth a visit i am hoping to have a trial run thier in the next few days i will try to contact norfolk to see if he can make it as well and any body else who would like to practice so please give it a go if you can as we are getting so close it will probably be better to pay on the day now but do confirm on this thread asap

------ End Quote ------dead right ian only 5 forum members have confirmed that thy will be coming i can tell that people are not able to afford to travel our clud matches are being hit because some of our members come to stay in thier caravans for the summer and they cant afford to come i think it is only fair to inform the fishery that we will not be coming on the 22nd and if the people who have paid let me have thier address i will send the cheques back or i will shred them i am sorry it has turned out like this but people cant spend what they havent got
