Thats the thing about fishing, you never know if or when your going to catch or how big there going to be,my PB Perch was 4lb 10oz and i never thought one that big was in the water i fished that day but it was right under my feet in some tree roots, got it on worms.

I would sugest trying Worms in stead of dead/live bait,a nice big lump of worms is what Perch like so i would say give then a go

I make mistakes i am only human well half the time.

you don't say where you fish or how or if the other fish were all or mostly perch. Stan is right about perch liking worms, but so do other fish. If most of your 46 fish were perch they will try to take the worms anyway so, if you are float fishing, you will get a lot of pulls on the rig. To get rid of small fish try bigger baits on bigger hooks and don't strike at the small tugs, just proper takes.

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Re: Getting bigger

If you want to catch big perch use a big bait like a big lobworm on a size 6 or 4 hook

It will depend a bit on where you are fishing and a good lobworm is a good bait but if you want a big perch from a river then a lip hooked roach livebait of about 3oz will take some beating.  if you do this though use barbless hooks because you may get interest from pike which will bite through the nylon but will be able to get rid of a barbless hook.  Using smaller baits you are unlikely to be successful in only picking out the larger ones.  Oh and strike immediately

I live with FEAR everyday sometimes she lets me go fishin
