Seemingly mostly small roach but I have seen pictures of pike as well. Disastrous start to the new season.

the picture you see is no portrait of me, it's surreal to be shown to someone i don't know

Pike are always one of the first to go not a worse sight than dead and dying fish.

Its ok to blame vandals for the spill, who noone will ever catch and bring to justice, but any chemical company should have enough security and safe area's for unsafe toxic fluids so as these incidents cannot happen. The company is neglegent.

Could be the anti's at work....with it being on the opening day of the season and all that. The idiots will probably not know that fishing is all year round now.

However, the company is at fault in my opinion.....there should be no way anyone can get to dangerous stuff like that and if the video is anything to go by.......my grandson would probably be able to get into that place.

Where was the Security Staff....Where was the CCTV Cameras.......did they even have any?

If not they should have....especially with dangerous chemicals of that nature so close to a main waterway like the River Nene....the consequences could have been of Biblical proportions.

....no excuse.....the Company have been negligent as Bob says.

What a disaster,  It's sad to see things like this, but why has a chemical storage area got storm drains running into the river.  I have been on a project before where there was a tank installed under the chemical storage area to cater for such an incident and a roof over to stop it filling the tank with rain water.

I live with FEAR everyday sometimes she lets me go fishin

Latest up date the slug of polution has past down to Wisbech and has been diluted by incresing the flow in the nene no more fish are turning up but long term damage is to be expected to the fish stocks and the fauna.

The TV interview with the company involved suggested that they hadn't even envisaged anyone breaking in and causing damage. Very poor in my opinion for what it's worth and should be charged with failing to prevent the damage.

I took a look down North Bank today. The stench of dead fish was in the air. Still some big dead pike in the water as well as other species. A truly horrible sight and smell.
