Disgusted: Westminster bridge turned into a back street

Went to london today weather looked fair so we took a chance. Got the bus to Beckton for a change and went on the DLR docklands light railway it wends its way through the old docklands past city airport and canary wharfe to Tower gateway a stones throw from Tower bridge we also see the new cable car that spans the Thames it looked very impressive. We crossed the bridge and worked our way along the south bank of the Thames going up stream had a nice breakfast and coffee overlooking the Belfst and the Tower of London we sat outside in the sun because we had Barney with us he is snoring away in his basket he is worn out .We took a very leisurely walk along the river with plenty of stops the hip held up okay so we ended up at the London Eye across from Westminster the seat of our government. The bridge was even more packed than usual the reason became apparent as we walked along every ten foot  or so there was a cup and ball merchant pavement gambling most of them going by their accents east europeans twenty pound minimum bet and boy was the money flowing some punters were putting up sixty to eighty pound a flip it was like a back street in a foreign country not a copper in sight I could not believe my eyes. I have seen this game played since I was a kid with the front people pulling in the punters but never so many in one place and never on Westminster bridge at the dog tracks yes in the east end yes in soho yes but not on Westminster bridge. These low lifes should be dumped off the bridge into the river there were over twenty of them on the bridge where were the police.

And I would'nt mind betting none had jobs here and are claiming benefits and housing. I would have definitely rang the police and reported it, even though there would be little chance the met could get enough officers to do anything about it other than move them on.Nothing will ever change if decent people dont air their views to police and politicians to get these imported mafia of our streets and back to their own middens, its not racist its fact. The softer we are on these criminals the more we'll get, they already know what an easy touch we are in the UK.

It sounds like you had a decent day out (apart from what you saw on the Westminster Bridge).

This morning I have sent an email to the mayor Boris Johnson and spoke to a person at the offices of the greater london authority and they said that they have had no end of complaints about the situation on westminster bridge and that the police have been informed of the situation . We will be going up again in the next couple of weeks so we shall see.
