Not my cup of tea

now the dust has settled and i have had time to reflect on our holiday,,,,,which we enjoyed because we both caught plenty of fish ronnie enjoyed what she does best catching fish,,,,,we fished a lake that was full of carp to 30lb mainly mirrors,,,,,but something shocked me...the club that owned the water also owned another large lake not to far away,,,which was we were told full of Tench and was available to fish at 15euros a day this high charge was because the lake was put and take members and permit holders were allowed to take 5 fish a day for the table,,,,,can you imagine eating Tench needless to say we didnt fish it,,,,,i also found out the law regarding live baiting was very strict and the only fish allowed as livebait was the tench,,,,infact you could purchase them live to use from certain shops and bars as i said Not My Cup of Tea

Re: Not my cup of tea

When I was a kid about seven  I scounged a little tench about four inches long from a bloke over the chase he had hooked it in the back with a treble hook. I took it home and the next day I took it to school and put it I the class aquarium and there it stayed for the next four years  in that time it grew to about  seven or eight inches and its back healed up. When I went  to Bishop wards they had a shool ornamental pond and it went in there and I never see it again little tench are MAJESTIC in minature

Not my cup of tea, either. I've never really thought about eating coarse fish (except possibly perch for some reason), and definitely not tench. I've never heard of tench as live bait either.

Stratford-upon-Avon, abborra? I know it fairly well. My mother still lives about 12 miles from it and goes there about 3 times per week.

Top livebait for cats these days evidently I think it was a case of what you could drag out in the weed when I had the little Tinca.
