Thames estuary cod reappearing and offering great sport

After several weeks of not showing, the Thames estuary cod have reappeared with Kent angler Keith Slater (68) taking five fish during a recent trip out. Keith used a lugworm hookbait tipped with small slivers of unwashed squid and was targeting a wartime wreck lying east of the Isle of Sheppey. Another two cod slipped his hooks during the session.

Offshore cod sport still providing good fishing

Inshore cod may have quit the coast for now, but offshore sport continues to be buoyant, with anglers taking prime late spring specimens like this 14-pounder from deepwater wrecks.
