To qualify for Penn status events have to be individual competitions open to all and organised by a bona fide angling club that has public liability insurance. Events can only be organised on a Saturday and Sunday and must be submitted to Sea Angler by E mail or phone BY THE EVENT ORGANISER ONLY two months in advance and before August 2011. There are two divisions, the Premier and First divisions and prizes will be awarded for the top five winners of each division at the end of the year.

A relegation and promotion system will operate with the 50 bottom anglers from the Premier division being demoted to the First division and the top 50 anglers in the First division being promoted to the Premier Division. This year (2011) the Premier Division will be rounded up to 250 anglers.

The top 40 anglers in the Premier Division will qualify to fish the Grand Final along with the top five in the First Division. There will also be a number of wild card qualifiers including some from the largest events around the country (chosen by Sea Angler magazine).

PENN SEA LEAGUE 2011 RULES

1. Only matches fished on SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS will be eligible for the Penn Sea League. ALL open festivals will be accepted and will count as one event only.(weekdays Are permitted if consecutive with weekend event)

2 All events must be OPEN on the day of the competition, League and series events are permitted as long as all events are open, NO PAIRS ONLY EVENTS. 

3 Matches only to be organised by a boni fide angling club with public liability insurance.

4 A maximum of SIX matches may be held by any one club or match organiser per year. The restriction for recognised Federations. (WFSA, SFSA, IFSA and the larger Regional match organisers is TWELVE.

5 All Penn League nominated matches date and details must be sent to Sea Angler Magazine in writing, by post or email two months in advance BY THE ORGANIER ONLY so they can appear in the magazine fixture list or web site.(Dates etc not accepted by phone) THE CLOSING DATE FOR ALL 2011 EVENTS IS August  2011.

6 Points will be awarded from January 1st to December 31st  11. The closing date for 2011 points claims is January 15th 2012. All prizes awarded at the discretion of Sea Angler Magazine.

7 50 anglers are promoted to Division One and 50 demoted to division two at the end of each year. The top 40 in the Premier league attend the final plus the top five in the First Division. Wild card entries are allocated by Sea Angler to include winners of the largest regional events.

8 The winner of each month will be awarded a prize, only one prize per angler per year. In the event of a tie the angler with the most number of scores will win. In the case of a tie with one match it will be the largest entry that will win.

9 Matches of all types are eligible, heaviest fish, bag weight, and specimen fish. Rovers, pegged and zoned. SHORE EVENTS ONLY.

10 Penn status is awarded at the discretion of Sea Angler magazine. Only events of 50 entries per day and above qualify for section/zone and biggest fish points (Max FOUR sections per day) The top three anglers are excluded from these points, only the actual section/zone winners can win zone points. If an angler in the top three wins a zone that zone is void, same with heaviest fish etc

11 Events winners are as decided by the match organisers  EXCEPT multi day or festival events which MUST aggregate daily entry numbers and award points for overall top three, section (max 8) and biggest fish only.

12 Queries and claims for points must be submitted within two months of the event. PLEASE CONTACT THE MATCH ORGANISER FIRST. Sea Angler magazine’s decision is final in all disputes.

13 The Penn League is based on a points system, the bigger the entry the more points scored (See sliding scale below).Minimum entry numbers is 10 anglers (NOT 10 PEGS) Events with 50 or more entries will score extra points for zone winners and biggest fish. Fraudulent entry numbers could lead to the disqualification of clubs and all competitors involved. THE ANGLERS FIRST TEN POINTS SCORES DURING THE YEAR ONLY TO COUNT FOR THE TOTAL SCORE.

14 Points for biggest fish will be awarded in bag weight events and points for bag weight will be awarded in specimen and biggest fish events, but only if officially included in results. Competitors can only score one score per event. 1 point is awarded to the winner of events with 10 entries.
